12/20/2000 Our 3-year anniversary. Quinn's first baby food; squash. A nice healthy vegetable, not too sweet-tasting. We had been warned by several sources to avoid feeding only sweet foods like fruits, so we dutifully picked out some good healthy vegetables to alternate with the fruits. I took about half of one of those little jars of baby food and warmed it slightly in a bowl. Quinn has been eating rice cereal and liking it, so when he saw the spoon coming, he opened right up. The orange stuff went in...his mouth worked for a few seconds...and his little face screwed up in disgust. He worked it around in his mouth for another minute before deciding that it really was edible and Mommy wasn't playing a mean nasty trick on him. After that, he ate the rest with no hesitation. 12/29/2000 Quinn's 7-month "birthday." He celebrated by crawling on the kitchen floor to chase after one of his toys. Okay "hauling" more than crawling--but it was clear, deliberate, goal-oriented, and remarkably coordinated. (Not that I'm biased, or anything). 02/01/2001 Quinn starts February with a surprise! 02/07/2001 Crawling, standing and happy about it... 08/19/2001 What not to feed a baby 10/09/2001 Climbing, good grief 12/25/2001 Yule - another surprise... 03/26/2002 Quinn climbs, rides horses - and gets staples in his head. |
